Casa Grande Union Pacific Underpass Art Project

ArtMobile-AZ has partnered with the CG Mosaic Creative Communities Team, Blackbox Foundation, City of Casa Grande, and Casa Grande Arts and Humanities Commission to advance funding opportunities to eliminate blight (graffiti, chipped paint, etc) in a highly visible and extensively traveled area of the community known as the “Casa Grande Union Pacific Railroad Underpass." The Team will install art elements, which are representative of the community, to beautify the area and promote unity and commerce.

The Team’s strategies and activities to remove the blight and beautify the area include:

1. Clean, repair, and paint the underpass and side cement walls that lead into the underpass;

2. Install metal and mosaic tile cactus on the side cement walls, and

3. Construct and install mosaic murals for the entrances of the underpass, which features the rich history of the community and impact of Union Pacific Railroad had in establishing Casa Grande and providing transportation for goods and commerce.
